How to Space-Saving Herb Garden

Vertical Gardening is quite the trend this year. From salad gardens built on hanging wooden planks to the inventive use of hanging shoe organizers. And why not? It is the classic cook’s conundrum: You want to have fresh herbs at arm’s reach, but you haven’t got the space for an entire herb garden—or you live in an apartment with very little outdoor space. So, we created our own simple DIY solution that props your herb garden up with basic yard lattice.

If you are planning to plant cucumbers, melons, or squash in your vegetable garden this year, think vertically!

The main thing you want avoid are any varieties that are labeled or marked “Bush Variety” because those won’t climb properly.

Look for a “Vining Variety” because you’ll want to make sure it can climb your trellis, stake, or netting properly.

Here are some standard varieties that will do well:

Ya habíamos visto aquí algo muy similar, pero esta es una interesante idea para crear unas jardineras de esquina que pueden adaptarse a pequeñas terrazas o espacios. En este caso utilizan bloques de hormigón a los que se les pinta unos planos en diagonal que dan un toque de contraste a la vegetación. Es un concepto muy adaptable y sencillo que nos ha parecido muy ingenioso.

Make A Butterfly Island Bed

Gardens come alive when butterflies visit. They’re fun to watch, and they’re fascinating for kids, who can learn how butterflies transform from eggs to caterpillars, and from pupas to adults. A raised butterfly island bed will attract these winged guests to your property. Keep a camera and garden journal handy to observe them, or just sit back and enjoy the colorful show.

how to Planter Centerpieces diy

Instructions:

Step 1: Fill the bottom of the planter with a thin layer (about 1/2 inch) of gravel. Succulent roots don’t like to sit in water. Since none of the planters I found had drainage holes I used gravel too raise the roots above where water would collect after watering. If you have planters with drainage holes you can skip this step.

Step 2: Fill the planter with potting soil up to an inch or two below the top of the planter.

Step 3: Plant succulents in planters. You can mix multiple types of succulents in each planter or use all the same.

Step 4: If there are spaces where the soil shows you can cover the exposed soil with flat rocks or even some of the gravel from step one.

How to Raised Bed Garden Designs

If you wanted to get really artsy you could paint the cinder blocks or even do a bit of mosaics on them before starting your garden too!
We started out used plastic spoons and a sharpie marker to write what we were growing but later ended up painted some beautiful rocks to display what is growing where! That’s it!  How easy is that!  She is so incredibly proud of her garden and she can’t wait to see the fruits of our labor.
I have to admit…  out of all the gardens I’ve done this is the most simple of plans.
Here’s a book I found called Cinder Block Gardens I found on Amazon

Here’s the full, fire pit How-To:

She gets paid hourly. One water break. We run a tight ship.

The next series of steps moved smoothly since all of the prep work was done. If you’re following along at home, make sure between all of these steps you take time to place a level on each possible stone combination. The rule of thumb is if the first layer of stones is even, you shall move forward to the next level. Sorta like Super Mario 3, but without having to beat Bowser first.

Isn’t it pretty awesome? I can’t believe I ever doubted the beautifulness of the fire pit. Lesson learned. I’m so proud of Steve and our new backyard attraction, and I can’t wait to have our first marshmallow-roasting session.

How to grow Small Tangerines Trees in pots

How to grow Small Tangerines Trees in pots
Select a large pot to grow your Small Tangerines Trees and put the pot into its final position before you begin to fill it with potting mix. Pots that are suitable must have several large drainage holes in their base and be elevated slightly off the ground. This can be achieved by raising the pot on pot feet or bricks. Don’t skimp on potting mix. Buy a good quality potting mix (look for ticks of approval on the bag) and make sure you have enough potting mix to fill the pot to within about 4cm of the rim (to allow space for watering). For a large pot – that is one that’s over 40cm in diameter – you’ll need several bags of potting mix.

Potted Tangerines Trees need to be watered two to three times a week. In very hot or windy weather, particularly if this type of weather occurs when your tree is in flower or forming small fruit, it may need daily watering.
